In this blog post, we’ll give you a quick overview about the most important new features of VNCchannels 2.6.

VNCchannels 2.6 – the most important new features
- Open the Channel info by clicking on the avatar – this new feature offers a fast way to receive additional information about the selected channel and enhances the usability of VNCchannels.
- New icons for different topic types: It’s even easier now to categorize different topics by using topic types. With version 2.6 we changed the “Regular topic” to “Article topic” to emphasize the purpose. An Article topic is a generic article that can contain a wide variety of content such as text, images, files, videos, etc. It is similar to a blog post for internal use.
- Drag and drop image files to the topic description while creating and editing a topic, this generates a better flow and allows users to add images faster.
- Redesign of the file display in the Channel and Topic info panels
- We added more tooltips to the Channel/Topic side panel for better usability.
- Filter chips have been renamed
- The new standard calendar design has been applied when editing a scheduled topic.

About VNCchannels:
VNCchannels is your place to store data and files related to any specific topic or project, to search and retrieve information and to share and generate knowledge – collaboratively! It’s your information Hub, where you can easily bring your community together and collaborate with your team productively.
Compared to VNCtalk, VNCchannels is our tool for mid-term or long-term collaboration, deeply integrated in our VNClagoon business software stack. It helps you to keep your data secure and allows you to decide who has access to which kind of information.
Collect data, information, ideas, files and videos and share them with a specific group of users, or with the whole team. Discuss and analyse data and connect information from various sources within VNClagoon by using Smartlinks. And as it’s not only about “having” data but also about finding the exact data you need – “Power Search” the complete content to retrieve exactly the information you need.
Create either public Channels to include everyone in the workspace or private Channels for selected members only to enable private conversations in smaller groups. Invite additional members as moderators or participants whenever you like. All your content finds its place in persistent Channels organized by topics and tags.
“Smart link” information to create a web of information and aggregate knowledge within Channels or Topics. These “smart links” can also be used to link to other VNClagoon components like chat messages from VNCtalk, emails from VNCmail, tasks from VNCtask or tickets from VNCproject.
VNCchannels Topic Types:
Within a Channel you can create different “Topics” to collect information and files related to any specific subject. There are three different types of topics in VNCchannels to collect and categorize information.
